During Jago, families dance and sing while carrying a decorated earthen pot lit with candles. This ceremony is usually held a night or two before the wedding day and serves as a stress-reliever for the bride and groom, allowing them to immerse themselves in excitement before the formal wedding rituals begin .

ਚੂੜਾ ਚੜਾਉਣ ਸਮੇਂ ਗਾਏ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਗੀਤ
ਚੂੜੇ ਦੀ ਰਸਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਮਾਮਾ-ਮਾਮੀ ਕੁੜੀ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚ ਸ਼ਗਨ ਵਜੋਂ ਲੱਡੂ ਪਾਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ, ਝੋਲੀ ਵਿਚ ਰੁਪਈਏ ਤੇ ਠੂਠੀਆਂ ਰੱਖ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਠਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਕਮਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਠੂਠੀਆਂ ਭੰਨ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਕੁਆਰੀਆਂ ਸਹੇਲੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਾਣ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਧਾਰਨਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਜਿਸ ਕੁੜੀ/ਮੁੰਡੇ ਦਾ ਵਿਆਹ ਨਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਠੂਠੀਆਂ ਖਿਲਾਉਣ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਵਿਆਹ ਜਲਦੀ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਪਰਦੇਸਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੀਨ ਨਾਲ ਬਾਹੀਂ ਚੂੜਾ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਸੱਜ-ਵਿਆਹੀਆਂ ਵੱਲ ਤੱਕਦੇ ਮਨ ਅੱਖੜਦਾ ਵੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਵੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ
